Day 1 : Arrival Kolkata – Belur – Chandannagar – Triveni
After lunch the cruiser, M.V. Paramhansa starts its journey from Millennium Park Jetty, Kolkata. The vessel will sail down the Howrah Bridge passing the Howrah Railway station. It will pass through many heritage sites along the banks of River Ganga.
Howrah Bridge is the unique cantilever bridge across the River Ganga joining the two metropolises of Kolkata and Howrah. Watch numerous temples and bathing ghats, the historical point of arrival of Job Charnock, the House of Dolls, the Nimtolla Ghat, and the oldest Gun and Shell Factory in India at Cassipur. Reach Belur and visit Belur Math. By dusk, the vessel will touch Chandannagar, a colony of the French till 1950. Explore French architecture while visiting the Church, the Clock Tower and the old hotels.
Enjoy a French dinner in the vessel to complete the French experience. Later the vessel will anchor at Triveni.
Spend night onboard at Triveni.
Day 2 : Mayapur – Nabadwip – Lal Bagh
Sail through the rural area of Bengal and get insight into the rich Ganga heritage by a well-known historian. At Mayapur, visit the divine abode of Lord Krishna and have lunch at ISKCON temple, Mayapur.
Mayapur is the headquarters of ISKCON. The Hare Krishna cult of the Gaudiya Vaishnav philosophy believes that Mayapur is the place of birth of Sri Chaitanya and it is the spiritual capital of the world. Stroll through Nabadwip after lunch. Nabadwip, twin town of Chaitanya faith along with Mayapur, was a great center of learning and and intellectual prowess, referred to as the Oxford of Bengal and the place where Chaitanya Deb was born in 1486.
Come back to the vessel for a quiet evening. At night the vessel cruises to anchor at Lal Bagh in front of Hazar Duari, the Palace with thousand doors.
Day 3 : Murshidabad
Enjoy a pleasant walk at Khushbagh. Breakfast on board followed by sightseeing of Murshidabad. Khushbagh is an idyllic Mughal style garden enclosing the tombs of Siraj-ud-Daullah, the last independent Nawab of Bengal and his family. A heritage rich historical city of West bengal, Murshidabad was the capital city of Gaur king Sasanka. Visit Nizamat Kila, also known as the Hazar Duari Palace, the Moti Jheel, the Muradbagh Palace and the Khushbagh Cemetery. Other places of interest are the great Katara Mosque and the 18th Century marvels of the Nashipura Palace and the palace of Jagat Sett.
After lunch tourists will be taken to shopping tour of Murshidabad silks and they will be free to explore market themselves. In the evening guests will come back to the vessel and it will move on, enroute they will pass through Palassey.
Palassey is the historic battleground, where Robert Clive’s men defeated Siraj-ud-Daulah’s soldiers ushering in British Rule in India. The vessel now starts its journey back, enjoy onboard entertainment during the evening. Spent night onboard.
Day 4 : Kalna – Kolkata
Arrive at Kalna during early morning. Visit the ancient terracotta temples there. Kalna has the old Shiva temple with concentric rings made up of 108 shrinelets which enthrall the visitors as they observe the rich workmanship of Bengal. Tourists come back to the vessel to head back to Kolkata. The visitors cast a last, long, lingering look behind to have a clear look at the Dutch Cemetery at Chinsura and the Portugese Church at Bandel. The Cruise ends at about 11 am at the Millennium Park, Kolkata.
